Wreaths Across America ceremony Dec. 10
Dec 4, 2018
The public is invited to a ceremony for Wyoming’s state remembrance wreath on Dec. 10 at 10 a.m., at the Joint Forces Readiness Center, 5800 Central Ave., in Cheyenne.
The ceremony is part of the Wreaths Across America program that honors all veterans and active military members during the holidays.
The tradition of wreaths from the state of Maine being donated to decorate the graves at Arlington National Cemetery began in 1992. It is the eleventh year of a national campaign dubbed Wreaths Across America that will bring the same remembrance wreaths to more than 230 national and state veterans cemeteries and monuments across the nation.
Wyoming’s ceremony is hosted by the Wyoming Veterans Commission. Maj. Gen. Luke Reiner, Wyoming’s adjutant general, will be the featured speaker.
This year, as in past years, wreaths will be donated for a special ceremony at each state capitol and a 38″ ceremonial wreath for the U.S. Capitol. All of these specially made wreaths are donated by Worcester Wreath Company, in Harrington, Maine.
This annual event seeks to further the WAA mission of Remember, Honor, Teach, ensuring that the memory of those who served our country endures.
Wyoming’s remembrance wreath will remain at the Joint Forces Readiness Center throughout the holiday season.
