Sep 5, 2017
CHEYENNE, Wyo. – A Freedom Salute Ceremony is planned for 9 a.m., Sept. 9 at Laramie County Community College’s Pathfinder Building to welcome home Wyoming Army National Guard soldiers from Detachment 3, B Battery, 777 Aviation Support Battalion, who recently returned from a deployment to Kuwait.
Thirty soldiers deployed in June 2016 from the Wyoming communities of Casper, Cheyenne, Gillette, Laramie, and Lovell; Brighton and Denver, Colorado; Newell and Spearfish, South Dakota; San Tan Valley, Arizona; Owasso, Oklahoma; and Jemeson, Alabama. They deployed as aviation mechanics supporting aviation assets in Afghanistan.
Gov. Matt Mead and Wyoming Army National Guard Commander Brig. Gen. Tammy Maas will be among the honored guests welcoming the unit back to Wyoming.
Members of the Cheyenne-based unit will receive awards and other recognitions during the ceremony, held in lieu of a traditional welcome home at an airport.
The public and family members are welcome to attend.
