Korean War vets to get last round of Peace Medals

CHEYENNE, Wyo. – Ceremonies to award the Republic of Korea Ambassador for Peace Medal to Wyoming’s Korean War veterans or their surviving family members will take place across Wyoming on Monday, March 20.

Korean Consul General ShinChae-Hyun, Gov. Matthew Mead, Wyoming Adjutant General Maj. Gen. Luke Reiner and Wyoming Veterans Commission Chairman Linda Allgeier will present the medals during the ceremonies.

Ceremony times and locations are:

8 a.m. Cheyenne – American Legion Post # 6, 1320 Hugur Ave.

11 a.m. Casper – Ramkota Hotel, 800 N. Poplar St.

2:30 p.m. Lander – Community Center, 950 Buena Vista Drive.

The brief ceremony will feature a video presentation from the Korean government and remarks by local officials. Veterans receiving the medals have been notified of the events; no additional medals are available.
